Like the natural world, the human body is complex and imperfect. At La Cura, we celebrate the perfectly imperfect. We embrace the rawness of the human experience in order to provide the most authentic, effective, and sustainable care. La Cura takes a progressively forward moving approach to care, uniting the science and therapies of traditional and modern medicine.

We value the simplicity of a foundational approach to medicine, layering relevant and therapeutic treatments based in science, and rooted in wellness. While nature and the body are complex, wellness does not need to be complicated. Our perspective on wellness is that it is individualized, and appreciates whole body health — physical, mental, and emotional.

We emphasize nourishing and strengthening the nervous system as the foundational cornerstone of well being. It is where everything begins, and where everything is built upon thereafter, influencing and dictating all other systems in the body. If you want to change your experience of life, or change the self in any way, it begins with the nervous system.

What La Cura offers reflects our desire, passion, and drive to unite the mind and body, demonstrating that they are endlessly integrated — and that optimal health depends on a precisely integrative and balanced approach.

Methodology

La Cura sees, hears, and meets people where they are, offering empathetic understanding. Through active listening, sincere communication, and compassionate guidance, we strive to support others.

The overall flow and approach to care embraces the individual story you bring. It is designed in a way that allows for the time and space to share your experiences, struggles, successes, hopes, and dreams — so that an effective, therapeutic, and individualized plan can be created. This whole body approach is intentional and layered, and aims to facilitate meaningful long-term health.

All sessions, with the exception of acupuncture and group sessions, can be done virtually via a privacy protected telemedicine platform, phone, or in person in downtown Toronto. Acupuncture and group sessions will be conducted in person.

Initiation

75 MINUTE SESSION

  • Initial and longest visit where we gather all your information related to your physical, mental, and emotional health.

  • We discuss your current major wellness concerns, while considering any past issues and future intentions.

  • We’ll touch on all systems of the body, as they communicate and work with each other — nothing is considered in isolation.

  • You share your complete story so that we are able to put the puzzle pieces together to create a comprehensive treatment plan.

  • Insight and education provided on your concerns, health history, and future intentions.

  • Evaluation of any diagnostic imagining or blood work if it’s available.

  • Goal setting for your present and future self.

  • A 7 day diet diary is most often prescribed at the end of the visit.

The Focus

The nervous system governs all biological systems in the body — it communicates brain to body and body to brain. It tells organs and every other system to act, and once they do, they give feedback to the nervous system. There is no function, no health, no experience of this life without the nervous system. The language of the nervous system is electricity, and so the language of the body is electricity.

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT

Through nervous system regulation, we’re able to get to the core imbalance and disease, and work to create long-term positive shifts versus temporary relief. We work with your presenting symptoms, but we emphasize your entire body and experience, putting the puzzle pieces of that unique story together, to develop a plan that addresses the root cause of your concerns and your goals.

Keeping this in mind, we work with patients and clients on their stress response, mood, gut health/digestive health, hormone function, skin, immune status, and overall performance and productivity. These are La Cura’s passion points, and where regulating the nervous system first has a profound immediate and downstream impact.
